The Roland VersaSTUDIO BY2-20 is a compact 20-inch DTF printer built for apparel decorators who need consistent white density run after run. Dual white ink channels, a redesigned ink delivery path, improved filtration and active internal cooling work together to hold color and white coverage steady through long production days.

Built on Roland DG's desktop platform, the BY2-20 pairs the printer with matched film, powder and software so the whole direct-to-film process stays predictable — from artwork preparation through to the finished transfer.

DTF Printing and Standalone Cutting in One Machine

Beyond direct-to-film, the BY2-20 runs standalone cutting. That covers HTV lettering, numbering and specialty media, or hybrid DTF/HTV jobs, without putting a second device on the bench. Transfers apply to cotton, polyester blends, denim, nylon, rayon and more.

How the DTF Process Works

1. Prepare print data — add a white base layer to CMYK artwork in Connect Designer or VersaWorks
2. Print to film — output in reverse onto Roland DG DTF Film using S-PG2 CMYK and white inks
3. Apply powder — apply Roland DG S-Powder to wet ink, then remove excess
4. Cure the powder — melt and cure under controlled temperature in an oven or shaker unit
5. Transfer — apply to fabric with a heat press at the recommended temperature and pressure

How does the BY2-20 differ from the original Roland BY-20?

The BY2-20 adds a second white ink channel, a reworked internal ink path with raised cartridge and tubing positions for better supply pressure, improved filtration, and advanced temperature management. It also supports 500 ml cartridges, which lowers cost per print on higher-volume work.
