Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant peony bulbs in full sunlight and well-drained soil, spacing them about 3 feet apart. Dig holes that are 8 inches wide and 12 inches deep, placing the bulbs face up with the buds oriented upward. The top of each bulb should be 1 to 2 inches below the soil surface, covered loosely with about 2 inches of soil. If planted deeper, the buds may have difficulty emerging.

2. Watering: Water the soil generously after planting. Weekly heavy watering is more beneficial to peonies than light watering every few days.

3. Fertilizing: Cover the bulbs with mulch to protect them during winter.
