Slim evergreen structure for small spaces

This compact evergreen has a naturally narrow, upright habit that fits easily into tight garden beds, entryways, rock gardens, and small yards. Its dense blue-green foliage provides dependable color and structure throughout the year without taking up much ground space.

Exceptionally cold hardy and slow growing, it is a practical choice for colder climates and low-maintenance landscapes. Plant it as a vertical accent, use several to create a tidy rhythm, or add it to a mixed border for year-round interest.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole about twice as wide as the root ball and position the plant with the top of the root ball level with the surrounding ground. Backfill, water thoroughly, and add mulch without piling it against the stems.

2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season. Once established, it tolerates short dry periods, but it should be watered during prolonged heat or drought. Avoid consistently wet or waterlogged soil.

3. Pruning: Little pruning is needed because it naturally maintains its slim form. Remove dead or damaged branches as needed, and lightly shape in late winter or early spring. Avoid cutting into old, bare wood, which may not produce new growth.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for evergreens in early spring if growth is weak or the soil is poor. Established plants in healthy soil often need little supplemental feeding.
