Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location that receives morning sun and afternoon shade to protect the blooms from harsh sunlight. Ensure your soil is well-draining and rich in organic matter to encourage robust growth. Mulch after planting to conserve moisture, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.

2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells. Water deeply in the morning and increase frequency when temperatures are above 85. Keeping hydrangeas well watered helps them bloom and decreases disease issues like leaf spot.

3. Pruning: Nikko Blue blooms on old wood, whereas Snow Storm and All Summer Beauty bloom on both old and new wood. Prune in summer just after flowering has finished. Dead or diseased wood can be removed at any time.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring and again in summer with a fertilizer formulated for roses. For optimal color, consider using a fertilizer designed to adjust soil pH, depending on your desired flower color outcome.
